The 2nd Annual DC KRAMPUSNACHT

Please join us Thursday, Dec 5th for one of DC's Greatest New Traditions

The 2nd Annual DC Krampusnacht!

With the holidays now upon us, we're all familiar w/ the story of Santa Claus. But according to ancient lore, St. Nicholas actually had several attendants, one of which was the horned satyr Krampus. Whereas St. Nick would reward good little girls & boys, Krampus would punish the bad kids. For 'truly' bad children, he'd even carry them off to later be devoured as his X-mas dinner! ...

Traditionally, Kampsuslauf takes place on Dec 5th (day before St. Nicholas Day). Celebratory revelers parade through the night, carousing their way through the streets & warn attendant children to be nice.

In a city known for its cultural diversity & multinational intrigue, this year we're proud to host the 2nd Annual Kampuslauf on H Street. With a schedule of events that run throughout the evening, Kampusnacht offers a little something for everyone - perfect for families & revelers alike!

Evening Schedule:

6pm -Santa's Cause Benefit Reception at Gallery O on H
Suggestion Donation ($10) or unwrapped Christmas Gift

7pm - Krampuslauf Parade on H Street from 13th to 11th St.

9pm - Afterparty at Little Miss Whiskey's (1104 H St. NE DC): Open to all 21+!

* Please note: all times are approximate as the evening progresses.

- For a more detailed history see Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krampus
- For an idea as to the Krampuslauf Tradition see: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLnl5ZWG4tg

All parties are welcome to join in the fun! Full or partial participation is DEEPLY encouraged. For the parade, any reasonable attempt for authentic costumes (professional or amateur) shall be openly welcome. To join the parade, costumes are required - join our group to participate! https://www.facebook.com/groups/krampusnachtdc/

All efforts go to benefit 'Santa Cause DC' (https://www.facebook.com/SantasCauseDc): a special project for "Family Matters of Washington, DC" - striving to enhance the lives of foster children throughout the DC area, they provide a program for personalized gifts both during the December holidays (delivered by Santa himself) as well as on birthdays. In addition, they provide needed supplies for the entire school year. We will be accepting unwrapped toys & monetary donations to benefit this most worthy cause.

So bring your family or friends & kick off the holidays with a fun filled evening for all! No Doubt, THIS is a night you won't want to miss!

Spellbound ~ Nov 30th ~ The 7th Annual Freak Bazaar!

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 30TH
Spellbound’s 7th Annual Freak Bazaar!

The Freak Bazaar is an annual showcase of craft vendors and local artists in the freak community, usually more than a dozen all under one roof! We create a fun environment that is brightly lit with music on low volume so you can see all the cool stuff people are selling and actually speak to one another without yelling over music. It’s a great place to find unusual gifts, stocking stuffers or a little something for yourself. A unique holiday shopping experience.

It takes place from 5pm to 9pm and there is no cover. During the Bazaar, all ages are welcome. At 9PM it becomes 21+.
Music during the Bazaar will be provided by mistaShinma.  We'll be serving drinks and food, so if you’re hungry, we’ve got you covered.

If you make a $10+ purchase from a vendor, you get into Spellbound (at 9pm) for FREE as a thank you for supporting your local community.

The vendors will pack up at 9pm so the music and dancing can begin. At that time, the regular $7 cover applies. Last years’ Bazaar was really great (the best yet) and we’re hoping this year is even better!
